WWE changes strategy due to The Elite’s promoter
The most possible breakthrough of Elite Wrestling (AEW), promoter made by Cody and The Young Bucks (with the help of Chris Jericho) has raised the alarm bells of the directors of WWE and its president, Vince McMahon. As reported in the last radio program of the Wrestling Observer by Dave Meltzer, they are seen by the company as hard competitors.
Finn Bálor and other fighters such as have a role with them and Chad Gable or Apollo Crews have been contacted to participate in the business. They are not the only ones, NXT superstars have been interested in the company that was new and the project.
WWE wants to change the plan, that’s why it has made many signings for January. “Since ROH announced they will be in the MSG, thanks in part to Cody and the Bucks, they have been on Vince McMahon’s radar, but they don’t want to go, they do not care, they want to do something big,” Meltzer said.
Another change they have made is that they have redoubled their efforts to hire The Elite, Kenny Omega, and Kota Ibushi.” Cody does not mean to go, but Matt and Nick have seriously considered it,” Meltzer said. “WWE has offered them very lucrative contracts, like Omega and Ibushi, but they’ve rejected it.”
In case the company does not proceed, Meltzer has advanced that Cody and The Young Bucks have as a priority to return to ROH, although”they don’t rule out going to Impact and keep fighting NJPW”. The trigger for this concept is that they would like to get a better and shorter program because of their age.
Finally, WWE’s intentions if an success is achieved by the company is to attempt to redouble its efforts in abilities that fight for them or that arise and begin to gain popularity as a result of the company. What is clear is that the project starts to emerge and the intention, as Meltzer points out, is”to be the alternative and overcome the WWE monopoly”.
