Buddy Murphy will defend his cruiserweight title in Royal Rumble 2019
During the 205 Live broadcasts, general director Drake Maverick verified that Buddy Murphy will defend his WWE Cruiserweight Championship in a fatal 4-way to be held at the Royal Rumble 2019.
The show of the cruiserweight division that airs through WWE Network celebrated this week a particular event recapitulating the best moments of the show during 2018. Commentators Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness, and Percy Watson were the protagonists of the day, presenting different highlights and combats of the cruiserweight division, focusing largely on the superstars Mustafa Ali, Cedric Alexander and the current winner Buddy Murphy.
At the end of the episode, general director Drake Maverick thanked the WWE universe for tuning into 205 Live, and confirmed that cruiserweight champion Buddy Murphy will defend his title in a four-man bout that will take place at Royal Rumble, the event that will place on January 27, 2019 at Chase Field in Phoenix Arizona.
Maverick also announced that three qualifying bouts will be held to define Murphy’s opponents. Next week Kalisto will confront Lio Rush and Akira Tozawa will fight against Drew Gulak to specify the first challengers. The final challenger to the title will probably be the one that comes out with the victory between Cedric Alexander and Hideo Itami, in a match that will occur in two weeks.
