WWE Rumor Mill: from wrestling Everywhere else, WWE Banning UK talents
What is the story?
It appears that WWE is becoming strict in their UK talent working for promotions as members around the NXT UK roster have been granted contracts with a higher pay rate, but it prevents them from working for any other promotions in the UK.
In case you didn’t know…
Back on January 14, 2017, the United Kingdom championship tournament began. Tyler Bate was crowned a new kind of wrestling and the inaugural UK winner graced the huge company under the wing of Triple H.
After over a year of hearing rumors about what is next to come for the supposed UK division, the tournament took place this summer. Zack Gibson defeated Travis Banks to progress to the finals; however, he would come in his match against reigning champion Pete Dunne.
The much-anticipated NXT UK brand aired on the WWE Network October 17, 2018 on Wednesday and the company has declared the first Takeover series which will take place on January 12th at the Empress Ballroom of the brand.
The UK division had a shaky beginning thus the company allowed the united kingdom talent to wrestle on local-level independent events like PROGRESS, ICW, and wXw (Germany). Promotions with significant presence or distribution were prohibited.
The heart of the matter
That all appears to be changing however, as according to wrestletalk.com, following the weekend’s taking in Liverpool, several UK celebrities are offered new contracts. There is no word on.
The source claims that a rise was seen by the wrestler’s salary, but the contract came with a new wrinkle — those NXT talents couldn’t work anywhere except associate groups.
There is no word on whether this is accurate; however unsatisfactory attendance for recent tapings is cited that the organization is currently looking to lock a few of the talents to their roster.
The mindset is that company officials believe that fans are unlikely to pay more to see the talent with displays that are independent being cheap in britain.
This is a rumor right now, as mentioned before. The NXT UK brand is gearing up for Takeover: Blackpool.
Matches have already been declared with Rhea Ripley scheduled to defend their championships in the event and Pete Dunne. New NXT UK champions are expected to be crowned.
